The Netherlands named Guest of Honour at Turin International Bookfair 2025

The Netherlands will be Guest of Honour at the Salone Internazionale del Libro Torino: Italy’s largest book fair, and one of the most important in Europe. During the 37th edition, the Netherlands will showcase its literature and culture to the Italian audience. The announcement, made at the 2024 bookfair, was accompanied by the presence of Romkje de Bildt, managing director of the Dutch Foundation for Literature and Dutch Ambassador Willem van Ee.

The program will be organized by the Dutch Foundation for Literature and the Dutch Embassy in Italy. During the book fair, international and in particular Italian readers, writers and publishers, will get the chance to explore Dutch literature. The partnership aims to strengthen cultural ties with Italy, and to introduce our latest exciting voices to the public.

As guest of honour, the Dutch Foundation for Literature continues its focus on Italy, which got its start with the programme FuturoPresente. This campaign, organized in close collaboration with the Dutch Embassy, The performing arts fund NL, the Netherlands Film Fund and local cultural organizations, showcased Dutch children’s and youth culture in Italy. In 2025, Dutch literature will also be celebrated outside of Turin. As a result, Dutch literature will be present in a big way at literary festivals, residences, bookfairs throughout Italy.
