Tiziano Perez to leave the Dutch Foundation for Literature at the end of 2023
14 April 2023
Tiziano Perez has announced that he will leave as managing director of the Dutch Foundation for Literature at the end of 2023. By then he will have led the national culture foundation for ten years, having been involved with the organization in other roles before that. The Supervisory Board will begin the search for a successor.
Roos Vermeij, chair of the Supervisory Board, says that Tiziano Perez, ‘with his enormous enthusiasm and intelligence, along with his colleagues at the foundation, has meant a huge amount to many authors, translators, researchers and producers of literary programmes at home and abroad. Tiziano Perez has spent twenty-five years working for the Dutch Foundation for Literature and its legal predecessors, ten of them as managing director. We, the Supervisory Board, are grateful to him for the major contribution he has made, for his tireless energy and for the way in which he has drawn attention to Dutch literature here and all over the world. It is to a great degree because of Tiziano Perez that the Dutch Foundation for Literature is where it is now. We wish him every success and will miss him very much.’
Perez looks back on a wonderful period. ‘It’s a great privilege to be able to work for the Dutch Foundation for Literature, and a great pleasure too, thanks to dedicated staff and expert advisers who care about literature and the arts. The Foundation has weathered storms – cuts to culture, the Covid-19 pandemic – but it has emerged from them stronger. The work and the commitment of the Foundation are as highly appreciated as ever, we serve a broader and more diverse group of creative people and organizations, and the Foundation is firmly anchored in the literature sector. All the staff and advisers and everyone else involved deserves a huge compliment for that. We are on the eve of a new four-year subsidy period, which makes this a good moment for the Foundation to go in search of a successor.’
