B. Carrot

(b. 1985, Jerusalem) came to Amsterdam in 2006 to study at the Rietveld Academy, and ended up staying in the Netherlands. After several years of writing and illustrating short stories and strips she moved to Brussels to complete a Master’s program in graphic storytelling.

In 2019 Carrot graduated Cum Laude from the Sint Lukas School of Art in Brussels. Her final project turned into her debut graphic novel Alle dagen ui (Days of Onion), published by Soul Food Comics in 2020. B. Carrot’s work is politically and socially driven, as she writes about issues such as migration and border policies and feminism. B. Carrot lives and works in Nijmegen.

A Way Out

Magda is a young teacher at a primary school in Warsaw. She is caring, kind, responsible and has her life in order. But then she gets pregnant. The pregnancy is unwanted, but abortion is illegal in Poland. The subject is so controversial in Poland’s conservative political climate that it’s hard to talk about, even with her friends and family. The only person she is able to confide in is her sister.
